Multiple emergency crews responded to a tractor-trailer truck rollover in Hopkinton that closed a ramp on the eastbound side of the Mass Pike Wednesday morning.The Hopkinton Fire Department said its fire engines and an ambulance were called to the ramp connecting I-90 to I-495 around 9 a.m., where a tractor-trailer truck ended up on its side.Officials shared an image from the scene, showing the truck taking up more than half of the roadway while its cargo appeared to spill over the side of the ramp.Massachusetts State Police also shared an image on social media, stating that the truck’s driver had suffered minor injuries and that the truck itself had been hauling trash.MSP spokesperson Dave Procopio said the truck was later removed around 11:30 a.m. and that an investigation into the crash was ongoing.According to Procopio, the driver of the truck, a 28-year-old man from Fitchburg, was expected to be summonsed for motor vehicle offenses.The ramp was opened back up to traffic ...

(CNN) — Artist Salvatore Del Deo and his family are back in the dune shack they’ve occupied and cared for on Cape Cod National Seashore for nearly 80 years.An agreement has been reached with the National Park Service after the artist, 95, was evicted from the historic shack this summer, according to his son Romolo Del Deo, who spoke to CNN about the deal.Through lawyers acting pro bono on behalf of the Del Deo family with cooperation from the Department of the Interior (DOI), the Del Deos now have five more years in the shack through a special use permit under which they will pay rent and take care of the structure.The negotiations butted up against what looked like an imminent federal government shutdown, Romolo Del Deo said, and the DOI and National Park Service rangers “worked very proactively to, in a matter of a few days, wrap everything up, restore our ability to get into the shack … literally right up to the wire of when the government was potentially shutting down.”“It ...

The City Council voted to approve $3.4 million in grant funding for the Boston Regional Intelligence Center, after a lengthy discussion that determined the need for public safety outweighs past harms created by the entity’s gang database.The body’s 7-5 vote on Wednesday releases four years worth of funding to the intelligence arm of the city’s police department, money that has been earmarked by the state since fiscal year 2020, but had been held up by the City Council.“At the end of the day, BRIC helps solve crimes, particularly violent crime, homicides,” City Councilor Michael Flaherty said. “BRIC brings justice and some solace, a little bit of peace and a little bit of closure to those that have had a loved one killed in the streets of Boston.”The funding will go toward improving technology aimed at fighting crime, gangs and terrorism. Mansfield Police successfully resolved a stressful situation in which a local man allegedly armed with a gun was holed up in an area hotel and threatening to harm himself.The man’s mother called the police a little before 4 p.m. Tuesday to report that her son “was under the influence and armed” at an address matching that of the local Fairfield Inn and Suites, 50 Reservoir St., and “threatening to harm himself or law enforcement if anyone tried to intervene,” according to the Mansfield Police Department.MPD called in help from the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council, which has a Crisis Negotiators Team and a mental health clinician, the agency said. Negotiators worked for four hours until the male in question “agreed to accept help and was peacefully transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.”
